The C.W. Baker High School Drama Club Presents its First Annual Madrigal Dinner! Noble Lords and Ladies! The Baker High Drama Club heartily invites you to gather at Deep Manor (aka, the Baker Cafeteria, 29 E. Oneida St., Baldwinsville) on November 17, at 5 p.m. and November 18, at 4 p.m., for a Madrigal Dinner Performance. The cafeteria will be transformed into a Renaissance feasting hall, immersing guests in 16th Century English music, pageantry, comedy, and mayhem! Join our master of ceremonies, the Jester, for a Renaissance meal that includes turkey legs, spuds, and flaming desserts, presented to you by Deep Manor’s colorful staff of servers. Minstrels will wander, beggars will beg, jugglers will juggle, and gypsies will tell your fortunes while you enjoy our comic production, “Jester ‘The Body’ Ventures Forth.” The evening will culminate with a lovely holiday concert of 16th Century music presented by our Royal Court and Brass Ensemble.

The production is being directed by Baker English teachers Melissa MacMaster and Kathleen Pickard. Music Director is senior Jean Goloski with senior Jason Ott leading the Brass Ensemble. Members of Mrs. Pickard’s senior English elective, Stage and Screen, are busily preparing all production elements.

The cast features Harry Long as the Jester, Carlie Matthews as the queen, Alec Hoffman as Mertonsire, Robert Kahrs as Good King Wence, Sarah Blewett as Olivia the Fair, Marisa McLean as the Town Crier, Jason Burcroft as the Trumpet Mute, and Meghan Mendiola as Gorgonzola.Org.

The Royal Court includes Kali Boutwell, Katie Goldberg, Jean Goloski, David Kahrs, Jason Ott, Zach Rich, Alaina Sawyer, and Brian Scott. The Brass Ensemble is comprised of Jason Ott, Chris Cadwell, Paul Schweitzer, and Eric VanderVoort.

1st Annual Electrathon a Success! Baker HS student Chuck Edic (in the red shirt) confers with Engineering Design and Development teacher Jamie Cuyler, while Kevin Shyler offers encouragement to driver Howie Rotchford as the Bees await the start in the first Electrathon. The Baker HS EDD class designed and built the car as the culminating project in the Project Lead the Way series of courses. The Baldwinsville Tech department sponsored what they hope will be the 1st Annual Electrathon with Cato-Meridian, Irondequoit, Cazenovia, and Baldwinsville all demonstrating electric cars that their students have built as part of their schools’ technology program. The afternoon saw the Bees battery powered car in a race with two cars built by Cazenovia students. The Durgee bus circle served as the race course, with the object of the race being to complete the greatest number of laps of the course within one hour. The Baldwinsville car finished in 2nd place, one lap behind the 1st place Cazenovia entry, and a lap ahead of the 3rd place Cazenovia car.
