  About the Ray Library
Learning Commons

 Usage

Ray Middle School Library Learning Commons is open from 7:30 AM until 2:45 PM, Monday through Friday.  We encourage you to visit the Library Learning Commons during morning or afternoon homeroom, during study hall, and during your lunch period.  If you have questions about visiting, please stop by and ask.  You may use the Library Learning Commons to borrow and return books, access online databases and resources for research, complete school projects, read, or play a board game.

 Circulation

There are about 14,000 books available for checkout in the library.  You can find a book using the OPAC computers, which are located at the circulation desk.  You are allowed to check out 2 books at a time.  Your books are signed out using the barcode in your agenda. You have 2 weeks to read the books, and we will renew them if you want to keep them longer.  Magazines may only be borrowed for 1 period.
Overdue notices are sent to homerooms to remind you of any overdue materials.  If you lose a book, you must either replace it or pay for it.

Print Collection

We have about 14,000 fiction and non-fiction books in our library.  The fiction section is shelved by genre, so if you are looking for a horror book, you will find all the horror books in one section, arranged alphabetically by author's last name. Other genre categories include Mystery, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Adventure, and Young Adult. We have Graphic Novels and Picture books, too. Since we have such a large collection of books available, we know there is one that is perfect for you!

 Online Collection

Our online resources are quite extensive, and include encyclopedias, newspapers and magazines.  These resources can be accessed from both the library and at home.  A list of available resources, including login and password information, is available in the library.  The online resources can be accessed from the library's website.
