Well the weather outside may be frightful, but the learning inside our classroom is delightful!
As the year continues to progress, I look forward to the students finding their "A-ha" moments daily. I am extremely pleased with the efforts of each individual student. Keep up the excellent work ladies and gentlemen!
Writer's Workshop: We are finishing up our historical fiction, and boy have these students done an excellent job!!!
As always, we are the FAB 3: Students + teachers + parents = SUCCESS!!
HOMEWORK: Each night, students should read about 20-25 minutes. They can alternate between reading aloud and independently (or which ever you prefer in your home). Please be sure the students choose a "good fit" book for their ability. Every Monday, students will be given a new list of spelling words and a spelling assignment sheet that gives students the choice from several activities. Please refer to your child's sheet as not all points are the same! A couple times a week, there will be math assignments. Please do not spend any more than 10 minutes per problem. If your child is having difficulty or spending more than that allotted time, please write me a note on your child's paper, email me, or remind your child to see me first thing in the morning. In fifth grade, students should not spend any more than 50 total minutes on homework, which includes 20- 25 minutes for reading. Please refer to your child's agenda to see assignments for that evening. The agendas should be signed nightly by parents, even though there may not be any homework for that evening.
