A class set of iPads are currently being used to deliver the Learning Commons' 21st Century curriculum in all grade levels. Please contact us for a list of Apps that we are using in our educational setting!
The Learning Commons has a large fiction collection that consists of picture books, beginning readers, and chapter books of varying difficulty levels. Much like a bookstore, the chapter books have been arranged by genre, such as mystery, science fiction, humor, fantasy, realistic fiction, etc. The nonfiction collection has also been arranged by subject area to improve students’ ability to find books of interest. Books can be loaned for up to 8 days.
Other Digital Media
The Learning Commons is proud to be able to loan ten Kindles to students in grades 3-5, six Kindles to students in grades 1-2, and approximately 70 playaway units (audiobooks loaded onto a MP3 player). Students may loan these devices with a signed parent permission slip for up to 8 days.
The computer lab is located at the far end of the Learning Commons and holds 28 HP Compaq desktop computers and headsets equipped with microphones. The lab also houses a SmartBoard, which is used daily for instruction. An additional SmartBoard is housed in the Learning Commons Classroom to provide for a second instructional space.
