Give Your Opinion on NYS Standards for Math and ELA

This past summer, the New York State Education Department formed two committees to review the current K-12 Mathematics and English Language Arts Learning Standards. The work was a continuation of the state's efforts to engage educators, as well as the public, in the review of the state's current standards.

Both committees reviewed public and educator feedback to make recommended changes to the Mathematics and ELA Learning Standards. Joseph DeBarbieri, Deputy Superintendent,  was fortunate to be selected to represent the Baldwinsville school district as well as the Central New York region on the Mathematics Standards Review.

Now it is your chance to provide additional feedback based on the work of both committees.  The Commissioner of Education and the NYS Education Department are providing an opportunity for public comment/feedback until November 14, 2016. You can review the proposed standards and provide your comments using the following link http://www.nysed.gov/aimhighny. The more feedback the NYS Education Department receives, the more likely standards will be strengthened for the benefit of our students.
