Baker Juniors Selected for Girls State

Two Baker High School juniors have been selected for the prestigious Empire Girls State, which will be held at the beginning of July 2017 at SUNY Brockport.
Emily Gregory has been selected to attend the program as a delegate, and Jenna Costello has been selected as an alternate.
Students selected as attendees and alternates are in the top third of their class and have demonstrated leadership skills, character and honesty, as well as academic achievement.

Empire Girls State is an educational workshop that focuses on the political process. The program is sponsored by the New York State American Legion Auxiliary and teaches high school juniors about politics, government and Americanism.

Attendees will participate in political campaigns and debates as well as develop bills while creating a mythical 51st state in order to learn and understand how state and local governments work.
