||District Welcomes New Director of Staff Relations/School Attorney
On March 1, the District welcomed Eric Wilson, Esq., to the position of Director of
Staff Relations/School Attorney. He was officially appointed to the position by the Baldwinsville Central School District Board of Education on February 27, 2017.
Wilson was previously a partner with the law firm of Ferrara Fiorenza, P.C. where he managed all aspects of school law client matters, including acting as General Counsel to boards of education throughout Upstate New York. He also held the position of Director of Personnel and Labor Relations at OCM BOCES, directing all aspects of Human Resources Management.
Schedule for NYS Assements, Grades 3-8
The New York State Education Department is transitioning its annual ELA and math assessments for grades 3-8 from paper-based testing to computer-based testing. This spring, Baldwinsville third-graders in all buildings and students in grades 6-8 will take the ELA and math assessments using the computer. All students who utilize accommodations for testing will still receive these accommodations. Baldwinsville students in grades 4 and 5 will take the assessments on paper, as usual. We expect to gradually expand the computer-based testing to all of Baldwinsville’s students in order to be in compliance with the state requirement that our current 3rd graders take computer-based assessments when they are in grade 5 in 2019-2020. You can find the schedule of testing dates on the distritct website.
Thank you to the Baldwinsville Kiwanis Club & School PTAs
At the February 27 Board of Education meeting, Peter Moore, vice-president of the Baldwinsville Kiwanis Club, presented Board President Victor Jenkins with a donation of $3,500 for the District’s READy for Kindergarten Program. The club has been donating to the program since it began about eight years ago at Palmer Elementary School. Due to support from the Kiwanis Club and the elementary schools’ PTAs, the District has expanded the program to include all five elementary schools.
