Ray Middle School Jazz Concert Set for March 24


Ray Middle School will hold a special jazz concert on Friday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m. at Storer Auditorium on the Onondaga Community College campus. The following groups, comprised of sixth- and seventh-graders selected through an audition process, will be performing: Bee Sharps Jazz Orchestra; Katz Pajamaz Jazz Band; and RayRiffers Jazz Choir. Ninety students will be demonstrating their musical talents and skills, performing jazz classics and recent hits.
 
Special guest artist, Steve Frank, will perform with Ray students at the concert. Mr. Frank has enjoyed a long career in music education, with over thirty-five years of experience as a band and jazz band director at the elementary, middle, high school, and college and university level. He has also served as the Education Program Director for the internationally acclaimed Syracuse Jazz Fest from 2003 through 2013. He is currently a member of the adjunct faculty at the Setnor School of Music, Syracuse University. Ray Middle School’s PTA is generously sponsoring Mr. Frank’s guest performance.
