If you drove by the district campus on August 21 or August 22, you probably saw a bus on its side on the front lawn of the campus entrance.
The district hosted a special training event on a bus rollover situation for its transportation employees on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. The district placed a bus on its side in front of the district office to simulate roll over conditions.
Every year our drivers are required to complete safety training that is mandated by the state education department. Although a bus rollover scenario is not part of the state’s mandatory training, the district has acted proactively and taken the initiative to train all of its drivers on how to react during a rollover so that drivers will be familiar with how to handle any dangerous situation they may encounter.
The Transportation Department and the district believe this extra training is worth the time and investment to ensure the safety of the over 5,000 Baldwinsville students who ride our buses on 97 routes each school day.
