TIME COMMITMENT FOR VOLLEYBALL |
|
| Like all worthwhile extra-curricular activities, high school sports require a substantial commitment. Volleyball - the ultimate TEAM sport-demands that diverse individuals work as one, in a fast-paced test of coordination, concentration and above all cooperation. Building a team requires a commitment of everyone's TIME. | |
ATTEND EVERY PRACTICE |
Skills training, lesson plans and game preparations are all built one step on top of another. Coaches will not have the opportunity to help players "catch up." If you know you must miss a practice, you must talk to the coaches in advance. It will be your responsibility to ask a teammates to brief you before you return. |
ATTEND SCHOOL ON MATCH DAYS |
The Baldwinsville Central School District prohibits any athlete from participating in an athletic contest unless, on the day of the match, they attended every scheduled class, or received written permission from the school principal. |
ATTEND EVERY MATCH |
On match days, the Varsity and JV teams must attend each other's matches as well as their own. The team not playing will help the other team during warm-up, record stats or any other assistance that is needed. No one may leave the combined Varsity/JV match early unless she received express permission from her coach; that permission will rarely be given. |
RIDE THE TEAM BUS |
For most Road matches at the other high schools, all Varsity and JV players must ride the team bus to the game. A player should be prepared to do homework during the bus rides. A player may, however, go home from the opponent's gym with her parents. A player may go home with the parent of another player, but only if she brings written permission to the coaches in advance. All other players must be returned to Baker High parking lot on the team bus. A player may not drive her own car to or from away matches. |
AVOID OTHER CONFLICTS |
The volleyball schedule will include several tournaments
on Saturdays or over holiday vacations. Your volleyball commitment means
you may have to reschedule some other activities during the volleyball
season. Talk with your coach if you anticipate a problem. |
