RTI Reading with Mrs. Morrison & Mrs. Kissock

Response to Intervention: Reading

Students placed in RTI Reading will use appropriate level text to practice strategies to develop comprehension, fluency, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and writing skills.  The course is taught by the reading specialists at Ray MS: Mrs. Morrison & Mrs. Kissock.

6th and 7th grade students will utilize texts published by Scholastic which gradually increase text difficulty.  The Read 180 program allows students to use print material, individualized software, and various technology to improve their skills, and more importantly, develop a positive attitude toward reading.

Students in RTI Reading will not receive a grade at the marking period intervals; rather, their progress monitoring data from the assessment tools within the Read 180 program and STAR will determine how each student is progressing toward their individual goal.

Please Email Mrs. Morrison (cmorrison@bville.org) or Mrs. Kissock (kkissock@bville.org) or call the school and leave a voicemail with any questions or concerns, including those about placement, current levels, and progress.

Please check to see which skills/strategies RTI Reading students are working on in class by viewing the appropriate grade level page using the link to the right.
