2014 Capital Project Update

In February 2014, Baldwinsville Central School District voters approved an $18.5 million building project that included the reconstruction of the Baker High School auditorium and new bleachers and a turf field for Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium. The status of the work is as follows:
  • Stadium bleachers and turf field - Contract awards were approved by the Board of Education on November 9, 2015. The general contractor is Robert H Law Inc. and the electrician is Ridley Electric. Their contracts, insurance forms and bond paperwork are all under review. This process usually takes a couple of weeks. The district expects to have the companies on campus working in the stadium by December 1, 2015. The lengthy period of the State Education Department’s review of the plan has extended the start time for this work by a couple of months. The district still expects to have the stadium work completed by September 2016.
  • Auditorium reconstruction at Baker High School - The district received approval and the building permit from the State Education Department on November 12, 2015. We will look to award a bid for the work in January 2016. The district must advertise the bid, analyze the bids received and have the Board of Education make the award for the work. The lengthy period of the State Education Department’s review of the plan has extended the start time for this work by over eight months. The district expects the auditorium reconstruction to extend into the 2016-17 school year. It’s possible that the auditorium won’t be completed until September 2017.
  • Public Library - The district received approval and the building permit from the State Education department on November 12, 2015. We will look to award a bid in January 2016 with work to begin after that. This work will involve the roof parapet.
  • Ray Middle School - The district received approval and the building permit from the State Education Department on November 12, 2015. We will look to award a bid for the work in January/February 2016, with work to commence in the summer of 2016. This work involves replacing the boilers at the school.
  • Durgee Junior High School - The district received approval and the building permit from the State Education Department on November 12, 2015. We will look to award a bid in January 2016 with the work to be done in the summer of 2016. This work involves improving the bus circle.
