Service Dog Awarded Congressional Certificate of Recognition

As part of its monthly Positivity Project Assembly, McNamara Elementary School celebrated the International Day of Acceptance on January 25, 2019 to promote an awareness of and respect for people of all abilities.

During the assembly, student Gregory Myers gave a presentation on service dogs, and he introduced the school to his service dog, Prudence. Gregory was surprised when Superintendent Matthew McDonald presented Prudence with a certificate of congressional recognition from Congressman John Katko. Thomas Haag, Deputy District Director for Congressman Katko, said the certificate recognizes Prudence for her years of service to Gregory. Gregory happily accepted the award for his dog.
