Students Awarded for Excellence in the Arts

On June 7, three Baker High School seniors were presented with the Deborah Stebbins Award for Excellence in the Arts. The following students each received a $400 award:
 
Hope Zucco, drawing & painting
Abby Manning, photography
Angel Cooper, ceramics
 
Students were selected by a panel of artists who reviewed student artwork on display at Baker High School’s Senior Art Showcase held in May. The award will assist these students in furthering their growth and development as artists, whether as a vocation or an avocation.
 
Deborah Stebbins appreciated and supported the arts throughout her life. She helped to establish a Wildlife Art Show at Beaver Lake and assisted in judging artwork there and at the New York State Fair. She studied music during her college years, but her love for the arts was broad and inclusive of many disciplines. Her husband created the award in her memory.
