Join us for a screening of 'The Upstanders,' a film about resiliency, ending bullying

Join us for a free screening of the documentary, “The Upstanders” on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 4 p.m. followed by a panel discussion.

This webinar is brought to you by the Baldwinsville Central School District Mental Wellness Committee. The documentary "The Upstanders" is a film-based education program about resilience, attention, and the power of connection to end bullying. The film explores cyber-bullying, bullying among friends, families, co-workers and the brain science behind it all. We will be showing the film, which will promptly be followed by a panel discussion and include access to further resources and materials.

The webinar is a free and open to students, families, and staff. There is a limit to 500 participants. A video of the webinar will be available for a short period of time following the event. Registration is required.

Meet the Panel

Kristin Fabbri

School Social Worker

Kristin Fabbri is a school social worker who works for the Baldwinsville Central School District. She has worked as a social worker in the district for 18 years. She has experience working with children with mental health issues, providing family support and community referrals. She collaborates with district staff, administrators, staff and parents to ensure the overall wellness of students. She has been instrumental in writing and implementing Social Emotional Learning Curriculum as well as initiating and developing the district therapy dog program.
 

Kris Denton

C.W. Baker High School Principal 

Kris Denton is an administrator for the Baldwinsville Central School District. He has experience working for an educational publishing company and previously served as director of a program called Better Chance which is a residential program for minority students. He worked as an English teacher for the Cazenovia School District for 12 years prior to becoming an administrator. His career in Baldwinsville has included three years as a middle school Assistant Principal and one year as the Assistant Principal at Baker High School. He is currently the Principal of Baker High School in the Baldwinsville Central School District.

Alex Rusin

School Psychologist

Alex Rusin is a school psychologist for the Baldwinsville Central School District. She has participated on the district Mental Wellness District Committee and provided training on suicide awareness and prevention educating staff on warning signs and risk factors. She supports the needs of all students through collaboration with administration, support staff, teachers, parents and students to keep mental wellness a priority when educating students.
