2021 Van Buren Elementary Virtual STEM Fair
The Van Buren PTA is taking our STEM Fair online! We would like to invite all our students and their families to participate in this exciting and educational event. Just like in the past, students (or teams of students-it’s up to you! Feel free to work with your family or friends!) will be exploring a topic in the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math. You will then present your project in any of the following ways: Make a traditional tri-fold display and present it on a short video (10 minutes maximum) or take photos of it for us; write a short report; make a Google slides presentation; make a short video news report (10 minutes maximum); make your own website; or even using a combination of these methods. If you have another presentation idea, let us know! We ask that all your work be submitted via e-mail to vbestempta@gmail.com? ?no later than Friday, February 26th, so they can be uploaded to our site. These projects will then be available for viewing online beginning Friday, March 5th.Whichever presentation format you chose, each project should contain the following:
1) A Title: Every great project needs a name!
2) A Purpose: What do you want to learn from this project? What questions did you have that you would like to have answered?
3) If you are doing an experiment, what is your hypothesis? What do you think will happen?
4) Explain the steps of your experiment or present your research (tell us what you did and what you learned.)
5) If you are doing an experiment, what were your observations? (Tell us what happened and what you noticed.)
6) A Conclusion: What did you learn? Were your questions answered? If you did an experiment, was your hypothesis (guess about what will happen) right? Why do you think that was?

PROJECT IDEAS
To start your project, you could ask a simple question like “How does this work?”, “How are stop motion videos made?”, “What advancements are being made in the Medical field that will improve lives?”, or think of an experiment and use the Scientific Method to explore! Showcasing new technologies and getting other people excited (especially fellow students) is what STEM Fairs are all about!
Here are some STEM topics, or feel free to use your own ideas so long as they are STEM related:
