High-risk winter sports have been approved

February 1, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to announce that the District has met all of the requirements necessary to start practices of high-risk winter sports this afternoon. The practice schedule can be found HERE.

Since receiving the Onondaga County Health Department guidance on Thursday, we’ve been working around the clock to meet all the protocols necessary to start boys and girls basketball, ice hockey and cheerleading practices. Our Board of Education met at 7 a.m. this morning to approve the participation of each sport and our District’s medical director reviewed and approved our sports-specific preparedness plan.

We know our student-athletes are eager to play again, and I’m grateful for the team of school leaders who worked hard to make this happen.

I also wanted to remind parents that they are also required to sign a consent form to permit student-athletes to participate. The form can be found HERE.

Go Bees!

Sincerely,

Joseph M. DeBarbieri, Acting Superintendent of Schools
