Second graders at McNamara are on a mission to spread cheer

Mrs. Allen’s second graders at McNamara Elementary School are on a mission to spread cheer!

The class started a program called “Spreading Kindness Through Color” and they are sending their artwork to those in our community who need a little cheer.

Each day this week, Mrs. Allen introduced the class to a person who needed a little extra joy. Mrs. Allen tried to select recipients who are elderly or isolated from their family and are feeling a little lonely due to the pandemic. Students decide on a picture to draw, typically something that the recipient likes, such as cats or flowers. And the students add an inspirational note!

The drawings are gathered and Mrs. Allen sends them with a special message: “We hope you enjoy these pictures. We also want you to know we are thinking of you!”
