Update on mask/face covering guidance

June 8, 2021

Dear Baldwinsville Community Members (students, parents, staff, visitors):

The New York State Department of Health released official updated guidance for in-person instruction for schools regarding its mask wearing/face covering mandate. Effective June 7, 2021, face masks are no longer required to be worn outdoors on school grounds, including during outdoor school sports.

The Baldwinsville Central School District has reviewed the updated state guidance and will relax our mask wearing/face covering requirements for outdoor activities and events. Students, staff and visitors will no longer be required to wear face coverings during outdoor activities while on school grounds. However, it is expected that all parties maintain 6 feet of physical distance when not wearing a mask/face covering.

Masks will still be required inside all school buildings, buses, and District offices.

The decision to wear a mask outdoors will be left up to the discretion of the individual.

COVID-19 is still prevalent in our community and completed COVID-19 health screening questionnaires are still required for all staff, students and visitors. Anyone experiencing symptoms is not permitted to attend school or any school events.

Thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Joseph M. DeBarbieri, Acting Superintendent of Schools
