Inclement Weather & Emergency Closings
When inclement weather or other emergencies may impact school operations, the Baldwinsville Central School District closely monitors weather forecasts and travel conditions to determine whether schools should close, delay opening or dismiss early. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority.
When a weather-related or emergency closing is necessary, the District will communicate the decision through ParentSquare and post an announcement on the District website.
In some situations, such as an approaching storm or other emergency, it may be necessary to dismiss students early. Early dismissal announcements will also be shared through ParentSquare and posted on the District website.
While emergency closing information may also be shared with local media, ParentSquare and the District website are the most reliable and timely sources for official information.
Update Your Contact Information
The Baldwinsville Central School District uses ParentSquare to notify families and staff about emergency school closings, delays and early dismissals.
Notifications are sent based on the contact information in SchoolTool and individual ParentSquare notification preferences.
To update your email address or phone number in SchoolTool, contact your student’s school. Please allow up to 24 hours for changes to be processed and updated.
Keeping your contact information current helps ensure you receive important emergency notifications.
Community Alerts
Grandparents, extended family members and others who would like to receive emergency notifications can sign up for Community Alerts through Bees Community Connection on ParentSquare.
News Media
The district also notifies local news media of school closings, delays, early dismissals and event cancellations. Media outlets serve as a backup to District communications.
We recommend checking ParentSquare and the district website first, followed by multiple media sources when necessary. This is particularly important during power outages or other situations that may affect the District's ability to send electronic notifications.
