For the 17th consecutive year, the Baldwinsville Central School District has been recognized for its outstanding music education program, earning the 2026 Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) designation from the NAMM Foundation.

“We take great pride in creating an environment where the performing arts are valued as an essential part of every student’s education,” said Superintendent Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri. “Music fosters creativity, discipline and collaboration. These are skills that extend far beyond the classroom and are vital to student success.”

The designation also reflects the strength of the district’s music education staff.

“Our music educators bring extraordinary passion and expertise to their work each day, creating meaningful opportunities for students to explore and grow through music,” said Kris Denton, Director of Academic Services, Visual and Performing Arts. “Their impact is evident across all grade levels and ensures every student has access to a high-quality, enriching music education.”

The Best Communities for Music Education program recognizes school districts across the nation for ensuring music remains an integral part of a well-rounded education. Honorees demonstrate support from teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders, along with a commitment to equitable access.

To qualify, districts complete a comprehensive application evaluating funding, graduation requirements, student participation, instructional time, facilities and overall program support. Responses are reviewed to ensure high-quality, accessible music programs for all students.
