Board of Education recognizes 5 C.W. Baker High School students, community organizations with Certificate of Excellence

The Board of Education will recognize and honor the following BCSD students for their outstanding achievements and accomplishments:


Boys’ State

Three members of the C.W. Baker High School Class of 2027 participated in the American Legion Boys’ State at Morrisville State College from June 27th through July 2nd.

American Legion Boys’ State is a week-long program that immerses high school youth in citizenship and leadership training. They learn the practical aspects of government as it exists in New York State, and come to recognize that the individual is integral to the character and success of government. They also participate in physical fitness, teamwork and other activities under the guidance of American Legion counselors and U.S. Marines.



Girls’ State


Two members of the C.W. Baker High School Class of 2027 participated in the American Legion Auxiliary Empire Girls State program at SUNY Brockport from June 30th to July 6th.

ALA Empire Girls State is an educational program of the American Legion Auxiliary, developed from the concept that youth should be offered a better perspective of the practical operation of government; that the individual is an integral part and commensurably responsible for the character and success of her government. It is an activity of high educational value, born of a need for youth training in Americanism and practical good citizenship.


Community Spotlight:


We would like to recognize and spotlight several outstanding community partners who played an important role in helping our students prepare for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.




School Supply Drive


The Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau, a program of the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center, was instrumental in coordinating and overseeing our school supply drive. Through their partnership and the generosity of our community, nearly 300 backpacks filled with essential school supplies were prepared for students. The Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau also provided financial support and helped make our Bville Spirit Drive possible, where students and families could access gently used Bville apparel to show their school spirit with pride.

 A special thank you to Barb Presley of the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center for her leadership, partnership and unwavering commitment to supporting our students and families. Her work is a true reflection of the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together to support our students.



Back-to-School Haircuts

We would also like to recognize Saving Face Barbershop and its general manager, Zach Fonda, for graciously hosting our 2026 Back-to-School Haircut Event on August 31. Zach and his team, along with stylists from Innovations, Karma and Elan, generously donated their time, talent and resources to provide haircuts for 75 students.

This event made a meaningful difference for our students, helping them begin the school year feeling confident, prepared and ready to learn. For many of our students and families, having access to a complimentary haircut helped remove one more barrier as they prepared for a new school year. We are grateful for the generosity and care shown by everyone who participated and are hopeful this meaningful partnership will continue in the future.

Immunization Clinics


Finally, we would like to spotlight Drakos Clinical Dynamics and the Onondaga County Health Department for bringing two immunization clinics directly to our students on our main campus for the second year in a row. These clinics are available to students with or without insurance and are designed to make required school immunizations as convenient and accessible as possible. By bringing these services directly to our main campus, it allowed every student the opportunity to meet New York State immunization requirements and begin the school year without interruption.
