The community will have the opportunity to vote for three board members. The three board positions are for three-year terms commencing July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028. The seats are presently held by Wayne Davison Jr., Thomas Bull and Sherry (Sam) Schraven. Below are the photos and biographies that each candidate submitted. The candidates are listed in the order that they will appear on the ballot.
Wayne Davison Jr.
My name is Wayne Davison Jr and I am running for a second term as a member of the Baldwinsville Board of Education. I have lived in Baldwinsville since 2008 and my son Owen is a proud 2022 graduate. When he graduated I wanted to stay involved with the school district. I studied Communications and Elementary Education at SUNY Cortland and have worked at Rapid Response Monitoring for 20 years in many different capacities including training, supervisor and workforce management. I have also volunteered with Baldwinsville Headstart, Little League, Youth Soccer, Sting and Upward Sports at Northside Baptist Church. I was also an active parent member for the Baldwinsville Marching Band and Theater Arts Programs. I believe that my past education, work and volunteer experience make me an ideal candidate for this role. As a member of the Board of Education I have immersed myself in as many different areas to help increase my knowledge and help make the best decisions for our district. I have been a part of several different committees including Wellness, Technology, Audit, DEI, Communications, Facilities, Strategic Plan and attended all but one Community Café. I pride myself in asking clarifying questions to help improve transparency and share information in an understandable and meaningful manner. As our district continues to grow and evolve I truly believe we have a long term plan for success.
Thomas Bull
My name is Thomas Bull and I am running for re-election to the Baldwinsville School Board because I believe I possess the necessary skills and experience that can continue to help support and strengthen the Baldwinsville Central School District as we collectively move towards the future. I was appointed to the board in January 2024, elected in May 2024 and have had the opportunity and privilege to engage directly with Baldwinsville parents, teachers, administrators and most importantly students. We have an amazing school district, indeed. As a board member I have served on Policy and Facilities/Visitation committees for the Board of Education and the Code of Conduct and Professional Learning Team committees for the district. I continue to be impressed by the purposeful planning, organization and effort put forth in the pursuit of excellence in all areas. Professionally, I have 39 years of experience as an educator at all levels. I started as an inclusive elementary school teacher for 20 years and have spent the past 19 years in higher education as a school improvement consultant, administrator, and professor at Syracuse University School of Education. Currently, I am a Teaching Professor and the Director of the NYC Bridge to the City student teaching program. My personal philosophy, experience and educational pedagogy are directly aligned to the Board of Education and District goals, which focus on creating optimal educational experience for students and teachers, creating safe and healthy learning environments, being fiscally responsible and promoting collaboration, cooperation and communication. My wife, Nicki (a retired teacher), and I have been proud residents for 29 years. We have one child, Samuel, who is a 2016 C.W. Baker High School graduate, a 2020 Syracuse University (S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications) graduate, and is currently a television news producer in Pittsburgh, PA.
