Freshman Dance

people dancingThe Freshman Dance at Durgee Junior High School is on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.This is an informal gathering; therefore, formal wear is not appropriate. Tuxedos, evening gowns, or any prom-like accessories are not to be worn. Limousines will not be allowed. Proper attire for young ladies includes a blouse with skirt or dress pants, a dress (dresses MUST have a strap; strapless dresses are not permitted), while gentlemen should wear a button-down shirt, tie (optional) and slacks. Should a student decide to wear something other than what is deemed appropriate, he or she will be sent home to change. Please see the guidelines attached below.

We have worked with our DJ to ensure that music at the event is current yet appropriate. In order to be proactive about student safety, every attendee at the dance will be given a bracelet. If a student is spoken to during the event for inappropriate behavior, including overly suggestive dancing, the student’s bracelet will be removed, notifying other chaperones that the student has received one warning. If a student is spoken to again, they will be asked to leave the dance, and a parent will be required to pick them up.

An activity agreement form that must be completed and signed by you and your child. Extra copies of the form are available in the main office and as a file downloadable below. This form must be returned at the time of ticket purchase. Tickets will be sold during lunch periods between March 19th and March 23rd. Tickets are $10.00 and students must purchase their own ticket. Please note that only 9th grade Durgee students are permitted to attend the Freshman Dance.

We look forward to an enjoyable evening. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school at 315-638-6086.
