It’s been said that Pickleball is the “fastest growing sport in America” and Reynolds Elementary School students are falling in love with the game.

The Reynolds Pickleball Club is in its second year and the students are really enjoying it, according to Colleen Natale, Reynolds’ physical education teacher and the club’s advisor.

The club has a fall session and a spring session and meets before school.

Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It’s played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes.

Corbin Williams, 9, said he is having a good time learning how to play the game.

“It’s fun to play,” he said.

Natale hopes the students are learning more than just the rules of the sport.

“District-wide we’re doing the Positivity Project and I’m always trying to infuse the character traits into our lessons,” she said.

During Pickleball, the students talk about the character traits that the see in action.

“The character traits permeate not just the classroom, but on the field and on the court,” Natale said. “We are raising the bar.”
