Class of 2020 Graduation Update

June 12, 2020

Dear Students and Families of the Class of 2020,

Congratulations to the Class of 2020! To honor our Seniors and present diplomas, C.W. Baker High School is holding a graduation ceremony on June 21, 2020, beginning at 11 AM. The following plan is in place to maintain a healthy environment and a memorable celebratory experience for everyone, while remaining committed to our planned graduation date and current guidance from the Governor and the NYS Health Department. We are also committed to bringing the entire class together on July 25th, 2020 for an in-person celebration, if permitted. Further details will follow.

For Sunday, June 21, 2020:

  • Any individual attending must wear a mask or face covering.

  • Graduating Seniors, parents, and immediate family members will enter campus on Albert Palmer Drive by the former Transportation Department and follow the same path as during the Senior Cap and Gown Pick-Up parade to the front of C.W. Baker High School.

    • We are asking that one car or no more than two (2) cars be used per student to allow us to be able to accommodate all of our graduates in a timely manner in a one-day event and to prevent traffic issues on campus. We realize there may be extenuating circumstances requiring two vehicles for immediate family.

    • Clear signage and traffic cones will direct cars and families along Albert Palmer Drive to the stage and ceremony in front of C.W. Baker High School.

    • 90.5 FM, WBXL will be airing elements of our commencement ceremony from 11 AM - 5 PM. Tune in when you enter Albert Palmer Drive.

  • As students prepare to process across the stage, families in cars will be directed to the front of the stage for prime viewing and photo opportunities from their cars.

    • Students must wear a mask or face covering when exiting their vehicle. Students may remove their masks or face coverings while crossing the stage and having their individual photo taken.

    • One parent or family member may step outside their vehicle to take a photograph, but must wear a mask or face covering.

  • After students receive their diplomas, they will exit the stage to have a professional graduation photo taken in front of C.W. Baker High School.

    • The senior class is purchasing one 5 x 7 photo for each graduating student. The photo will be mailed to the students primary residence. There will be an opportunity for families to purchase additional photos.
