Baker Students Win Film Awards
We are very pleased to inform you about the tremendous accomplishments of both the Baker High School Film students and the Baker News staff. On Saturday, June 13th, several of our students were recognized for their talents in film and journalism at the 2020 CNY High School Film Festival. The CNY Film Festival is an annual event in which high school students are recognized for their accomplishments in film production throughout the school year. This year over 100 films were submitted by students from seven Central New York high schools to compete for awards in 10 categories. The films were judged by professionals in the fields of journalism, communications, and film.
This is the first year students from Baker High School participated in the festival, and we are so excited to tell you that our students won or placed in each of the 8 categories where they submitted entries. Our students’ knowledge and creativity was on full display Saturday night, establishing Baldwinsville as a strong presence in the world of high school media production in Central New York. Mrs. Cartier and Mrs. Morgan are extremely proud of what our students were able to accomplish in this inaugural year of our film class. When we began this class, our objective was to provide students with a creative outlet in which to tell their stories visually. The recognition they received from the professional community clearly illustrates that they have a strong voice in the world of visual storytelling. As we look to the future of our class, we hope that you will embrace our students’ love of film and continue to enable them to tell their stories through this art form.
