Palmer Elementary School Principal Alex Ewing was amazed by the amount of brown paper bags that were delivered from the Staples store in Clay.

Each bag contains either $5 or $10 worth of schools supplies for students. Others contained $5 worth of disinfecting products for teachers. The bags covered four tables in the Palmer's cafeteria.

“We are humbled and tremendously grateful for the generosity of the community and Staples for supporting Palmer Elementary,” Ewing said.

Staples selected Palmer Elementary School in its school adoption program earlier this summer. Shoppers at the Clay store were asked if they would like to donate a $5 bag or $10 bag to the school. The response was remarkable.

“Because of their overwhelming support, we will have the opportunity to share supplies donated with the other Baldwinsville elementary schools in support of students as we are ALL in it together!” Ewing said.

The Staples store is continuing to collect donations and Ewing said he plans to continue to share supplies with other schools. The District has five elementary buildings.

"The generosity of this community never ceases to amaze me," Superintendent Matthew McDonald said. "Thank you to everyone who donated and continues to donate. And a huge thank you to Mr. Ewing for his generosity in sharing these donations with the other elementary schools in our District. These supplies are needed and appreciated."
