Important announcement from Superintendent McDonald - 10/22/20

October 22, 2020

Dear parents and guardians,

I am writing today because the District was notified that a Reynolds Elementary School student has tested positive for COVID-19. I was made aware of this information from the student’s parent, and we confirmed the case with the Onondaga County Health Department.

Due to our cohort scheduling this month, the student impacted was last in attendance for in-person instruction on Oct. 7. The student was scheduled to be in school on Oct. 19, but the student’s parent kept the child home because there was a possibility that the child was exposed to a positive individual outside of school. Therefore, the county Health Department has determined that no students or staff members need to be quarantined.

The student is now in isolation. We can’t provide any additional information about this student due to confidentiality and privacy constraints.

We appreciate your support and understanding on this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.

Sincerely,

Matthew J. McDonald, Superintendent of Schools
