Update on statewide mask mandate from Superintendent Thomson

Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

I hope you found time in the last week to rest, relax and spend some quality time with loved ones. As you prepare for the return to school tomorrow, I would like to address the announcement made by Governor Hochul this afternoon regarding masks in our schools.

As you may know, Governor Hochul announced that the statewide mask mandate for schools will be lifted effective Wednesday, March 2, 2022.  We anticipate that Onondaga County will honor the state’s mandate change. I greatly appreciate all of the support, patience and understanding you have given us during these challenging times.

Education leaders across the state will meet Monday and Tuesday to prepare for the mask mandate to be lifted. In preparation here in Baldwinsville, I would like to encourage families to help reinforce the importance of respecting each individual's right to choose to mask or not from March 2nd and beyond. These conversations over the course of the next two days will help us maintain a respectful and productive learning environment in each of our buildings.

Please continue to check your email and our website, www.bville.org, for updates. Have a great evening. All the best.

Respectfully yours,

Jason D. Thomson, Superintendent of Schools
