Superintendent's announcements for September 23, 2022

September 23, 2022

Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

It’s been a busy week in our district with curriculum nights, sporting events, rehearsals and special events. It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of September, but I guess it’s true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun!

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

COVID Updates
  • There is no longer a universal masking mandate. Masks are not required in any of our schools, district buildings, or on school buses. If a student or staff member wears a mask, whether by choice, expectation, or requirement, they will be allowed to do so. It is expected that each individual’s right to mask or not to mask is free from stigmatization, bullying, or being made to feel uncomfortable.
  • The district no longer plans to post cases to the COVID-19 dashboard due to the reporting requirement of school districts to the NYSDOH being lifted. For all COVID-19 related updates visit our Health Services website.
  • If you’re interested in voluntary saliva-based PCR testing, please check out our website for information on how to register with Onondaga County.
District seeks volunteers

We are starting the development process for the 2023-2024 budget and we are seeking community input through budget advisory committees. The District is looking for volunteers to serve on committees to review specific areas of the budget and to provide input on the budget cost savings prior to the budget components being presented to the Board of Education for review. Visit our website to learn more about meeting dates and how to volunteer.

Marching Band Home Show

The Marching Bees Home Show is this Saturday at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium. The show starts at 5 p.m. There are 12 bands performing. The Bees will perform at 7:36 p.m. followed by a Bees Senior Recognition at 8 p.m. General admission is $9 at the door. Seniors and veterans are $7. Children 5 and under are free. Come out and support the Bees!

No Image List

If you DO NOT WANT your child’s image to be taken and used by the district or local media during the current school year, please fill out the opt-out form and return to Public Information Specialist Sarah Buckshot, Baldwinsville Central School District Office, 29 East Oneida Street, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. This request must be made every year. We are honoring the requests from the 2021-2022 school year until September 30, 2022 only. Please don’t wait to alert us that you want your child on the No Image List. If you have questions, please email sbuckshot@bville.org

After School Enrichment Programs

Registration for After School Enrichment programs opened on Wednesday and will close on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Check out our website to learn more about the offerings at your child’s school.

Survey

There’s still time to take our survey. The District has partnered with an independent third party-research company, Research & Marketing Strategies, LLC, to offer a survey to our residents. As we begin strategic planning activities for 2023 and beyond, it is important to obtain feedback from the community-at-large. Learn more on our website or take the survey by clicking here.

Please continue to check your email and our website, www.bville.org, for updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Have a great weekend. All the best. Go Bees!

Respectfully yours,

Jason D. Thomson
