Acting Superintendent's announcements for October 21, 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend in Central New York. I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy the mild temperatures and the fall foliage. It’s hard to believe November is right around the corner.

I have a few quick announcements to share with you today:

District seeks volunteers

This is our final call for volunteers for our budget advisory committees. The deadline to sign up is October 26th. The District is looking for volunteers to serve on committees to review specific areas of the 2023-2024 budget and to provide input on cost savings prior to the budget components being presented to the Board of Education for review. Visit our website to learn more about meeting dates and how to volunteer.

Professional Learning Team

We are also seeking two parents/guardians to join our Professional Learning Team. The team, which features representatives from each of the district’s stakeholder groups, meets seven times a year from 4 to 5 p.m. after school. Meetings are held in person, but a GoogleMeet option will be made available. If you’re interested, please email Public Information Specialist Sarah Buckshot at sbuckshot@bville.org. The team helps to coordinate professional development opportunities for Baldwinsville school district staff members.

Lunch & Learn

The first installment of our Virtual Lunch & Learn was held at noon on Thursday. If you missed it, please check out our website to watch the video.

Go Bees!

Congratulations to Girls Tennis players: Lainey Nesbit, Mira Nadzan and Hannah Gould. They all made the NYS High School Tennis Tournament. Mira Nadzan placed 3rd in state qualifiers in singles. Hannah Gould and Lainey Nesbitt placed 2nd in doubles. The State Tournament will be held on Wednesday, October 26th at the Sport Time Tennis Facility in Schenectady.

The girls tennis team also plays in the Team State Quarterfinals on Saturday in Schenectady. Play starts at 11 a.m. at Central Park.

Our girls field hockey team advanced to the Sectional Semifinals game! This game is Sunday, October 23rd at 1 p.m. at VVS High School. The Bees take on Rome.

Good luck to all of our Bees competing this weekend!

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have and check our website for important updates. Have a great weekend. Go Bees!

Sincerely,

Joseph M. DeBarbieri, Acting Superintendent of Schools
