Superintendent's announcements for October 28, 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s another busy and exciting weekend for Baldwinsville. From the Sectional Quarterfinal football game at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium tonight to the New York State Field Band Championship at the Dome on Sunday, we are so excited and proud of our Bees!

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

Calendar Reminders:

  • Our last Parent-Teacher Conference of the month will be held on Monday, October 31st. Parent-Teacher Conferences are reduced days for prekindergarten to fifth grade students only. Ray, Durgee and Baker students are not impacted.
  • There is no school for all students on Tuesday, November 8th for a Superintendent’s Conference Day.
  • The marking period ends on Thursday, November 10th.
  • There is no school for all students and district offices are closed on Friday, November 11th for Veteran’s Day.

Halloween student project:

Our C.W. Baker High School Orchestra students teamed up with light/sound design students and video students to record “This is Halloween” for a special project. Great work, students. Check out the video here.

Congratulations

Baker News was honored last week as one of the nominees at the 2022 All-American High School Film Festival in Brooklyn. The Bees entered a highlight reel of their weekly show in the best broadcast journalism category. Although the Bees didn’t snag the repeat win this year, we’re so proud of the students for being recognized in the top five in the country. Great work, Bees!

Twenty-two of our students participated in the 2022 Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged on Tuesday at the Central New York Family Sport Centre! The students had a great time. Check out our Facebook page for photos!

Three of our varsity tennis players competed in the State Individual Tennis Tournament in Schenectady. Although they didn’t win, we are extremely proud of their accomplishments this season. Congratulations to Mira Nadzan, who competed in singles, and doubles team Hannah Gould and Lainey Nesbitt.

Go Bees!

  • Our varsity football team takes on Rome Free Academy at 6:30 p.m. tonight. Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for students.
  • The Marching Bees are scheduled to perform at the Dome at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. The New York State Field Band Championship is the final performance of the season, but you can also catch them at the football game tonight!
  • Our Girls Varsity Volleyball team is the number 1 seed in the Class AA Sectionals. They will play in the Sectional Semifinals at home at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2nd.
  • Our Varsity Girls Swim team is competing in the Class A Sectionals, which starts at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2nd in the Nottingham pool.

Good luck to all our Bees!  We are so proud of you!

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have and check our website for important updates. Have a great weekend. Go Bees!

Sincerely,

Joseph M. DeBarbieri, Acting Superintendent of Schools
