Acting Superintendent's announcements for December 2, 2022

December 2, 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Supporting others when they struggle is the Positivity Project Character Strength of the Week for next week and I wanted to take this opportunity to remind families that we have resources at each of our schools to support students. The holiday season can be a joyous time for some children, but for others it can be a time of grief, anxiety or loneliness. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to school counselors and staff. The mental well-being of our students is one of our top priorities.

I have a few quick announcements to share with you today:

Eight C.W. Baker High School students were selected to participate in the New York State School Music Association All-State Winter Conference, which will be held this weekend in Rochester. Congratulations to the following students:

The latest edition of The Hive is available online. READ HERE. It’s expected to arrive in the mailboxes of district residents in the coming days.

2023 Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute

C.W. Baker High School students Sydney McKenney, Sofia Beck and Isabella Clark were selected as delegates of the 2023 Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PRHYLI) - Syracuse Delegation. This program promotes the involvement of Hispanic/Latino students in public policy issues by learning about the legislative process. Delegates show great leadership potential. We are very proud of Sydney, Sofia and Isabella and honored for them to represent Baldwinsville at the Institute, which is held in March in Albany.

2022 Holiday Greeting Card Contest:

We have a winner in our 2022 Holiday Greeting Card Contest. Congratulations to Lyra Hobin, a second-grader at Reynolds Elementary School. Check out her snowman chalk drawing on our Facebook page! Thank you to everyone who voted, we know how hard it was to pick a winner! Lyra’s winning artwork will be featured on our District Office’s digital holiday greeting card. Thank you to everyone who submitted entries. We will be featuring more of the creative and impressive artwork on our social media pages in the coming weeks!

C.W. Baker’s Winter Semi-Formal will be held on Saturday evening. I hope everyone has a wonderful time! Be safe and have fun! Winter sports are also in action. Go Bees!
