Ray Middle School Principal Named

Baldwinsville Central School District is pleased to announce that Michael Pope was appointed by the Board of Education as the new principal of Ray Middle School. His official start date is July 1, 2023. Mr. Pope has served as vice principal at Ray Middle School for four years. 

Mr. Pope is excited and proud to lead the students, educators and community of learners as the new Building Principal of Ray Middle School. 

He has spent the last 16 years in the Baldwinsville Central School District as an English teacher at C.W. Baker High School, Assistant Coach for the Varsity hockey team and as  Assistant Principal at Ray Middle School. 

A 2007 graduate of Fredonia State University, Mr. Pope earned his Bachelor of Arts in English Education.  He graduated from Cortland State University in 2011 with a Master of Arts in English Literature.  Mr. Pope also earned his Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from SUNY Oswego in 2020.

Mr. Pope is passionate about giving students the tools and skills to grow as young learners and "follow their fire" in life, and empowering teachers to positively impact students and families every single day. 

Michael and Amy Pope (Kindergarten teacher at Van Buren Elementary) live in the village of Baldwinsville with their three children: Matthew (13), Ellie (11), and Charlotte (8).  Originally from Nebraska, the Pope family enjoys traveling back to the Midwest and adventuring around the Northeast as often as they can.
