Superintendent DeBarbieri's announcements for October 27, 2023

October 27, 2023

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

As we near the end of our second month of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank our students for their hard work and determination in and out of the classroom. Our students are making strides in their coursework, mastering new skills and working hard as the end of the first marking period nears. They are also shining on the court, breaking school records in the pool, winning big games and excelling in competitions! Thank you for continuing to make us proud!

I want to also take this opportunity to offer my support to our school community as news continues to break on the horrific acts of violence in Lewiston, Maine. I’m deeply saddened by this tragedy and my heart goes out to the victims and their families. Traumatic events can impact us all in different ways. If your child is upset and needs support, please contact their school for services.

I have a few other announcements to share with you today:

  • Calendar reminders:

    • There’s a reduced day for pre-kindergarten to fifth grade students for parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, October 31st.

    • The marking period ends on Thursday, November 9th.

    • There is no school for students and district offices are closed on Friday, November 10th for Veterans Day.

  • Thank you: We would like to say thank you to everyone who donated costumes for the Halloween costume drive. We had dozens of families receive costumes at no cost. Thank you to the district’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Community Committee for organizing the drive and distribution.

Season 2 of the show was nominated for the NY Emmy and Jampa was selected by the show’s producers to accept the award if the show wins. Jampa said he’s very excited. • Congratulations: Our 7th & 8th grade Girls Modified Swim Team had an undefeated season with a 7-0 record.
