Superintendent DeBarbieri's announcements for March 1, 2024

March 1, 2024

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

I hope everyone had a safe, warm and fun day off yesterday for our first emergency closing “snow day” of the school year! It looks like spring-like temperatures are on the way for Baldwinsville. Enjoy some sunshine and have a great weekend!

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

Transportation Reminder

In order to ensure that our students are arriving at school on time each morning, we need help from families. Please have your child/children at their bus stop at their scheduled time. We will not be able to turn around to pick up a student who was not at the bus stop on time. Doing so would disrupt other bus runs, classes and students. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding on this important matter.

“Matilda” Tickets

The Baldwinsville Theater Arts Program will present the senior production of Roald Dahl's "Matilda" the musical next week! Opening night is Thursday, March 7th and the show runs until Sunday, March 10th. The Sunday show is currently sold out and a standby list is availableTickets are no cost to the public and there are no online fees. Please use a desktop or laptop computer to order tickets as phones and tablets do not allow you to choose your seats. If you do not need tickets you have previously reserved, please notify us as soon as possible at bvilletheater@gmail.com and we can manually release the tickets so others can have the seat.

Athletic Update

Congratulations to all our winter athletes for a fantastic season. There’s more postseason action this weekend. Members of our Boys Swim Team are at the NYSPHSAA Swimming & Diving State Championships at Ithaca College. Action is underway! Good luck to Nicolas Pompo, Alexander Nicita, Matthew Lange, Lucas Clay, Michael White, Mason Stever, Jayden Miranda and Marco VanCour. Members of our Boys and Girls Indoor Track & Field teams are at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island. Best of luck to Kelsey Dwyer, Kamryn Barton, Noah Covert, Ryan Wilson, Paul Clark, Zach Arria, Adam Kozman and Will Cornell. Go Bees!

P2 Spirit Week

The Positivity Project Spirit Week is next week. This is a districtwide spirit week. See our website for lists of themes! The themes are also featured on the printed district calendar and the online calendar

Opening Reception

The opening reception for the All District Art Show will be held on Tuesday, March 5th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Baldwinsville Public Library. The art show features artwork from C.W. Baker High School, Durgee Junior High School and Ray Middle School students. The work is on exhibit from March 2nd to 26th during library hours.

Volunteers Needed

We are seeking volunteers for the annual public budget vote from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. It is best for community members to volunteer for a 3-hour minimum timeslot. We will provide training. Learn more on our website. To volunteer, please contact Nicole Castillo at 315-638-6055 by Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Please continue to check ParentSquare, your email and our website, for important updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Go Bees!

Sincerely,

Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri
