Below you will find ALL email messages from Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri, Superintendent of Schools, during the 2023-2024 school year.

February 9, 2024

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

Happy Friday! I hope you are enjoying the sunshine and spring-like weather! I wanted to remind families that we are one week away from February Break. There is no school for students from Monday, February 19th to Friday, February 23rd. District offices will be closed on Monday, February 19th.

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

Transportation Request:

As we approach February break, we are facing a shortage of bus drivers due to medical leave and other absences. In an effort to ensure all students are transported to and from school in a timely fashion, we are asking parents and guardians for help on Thursday and Friday. If you are able to transport your child to and from school on February 15th and 16th, it would shorten our bus runs and help alleviate some issues caused by our reduced staff. If this is possible, please alert us by giving a note to your child’s bus driver. We do appreciate your help!

We are continuing to hire in our Transportation Department. Please spread the word with your friends and family. Visit our human resources website to apply.

BTAP tickets available now:

The Baldwinsville Theater Arts Program will present the senior production of Roald Dahl's "Matilda" the musical in March. The show opens on Thursday, March 7th and runs until Sunday, March 10th. Online tickets are available now at www.bvilletheater.com. Please use a desktop or laptop computer to order tickets as phones and tablets do not allow you to choose your seats. Tickets are no cost to the public. No online fees are assessed for free tickets. Learn more on our website.

PRHYLI students honored:

Two Baldwinsville students who were selected to serve as Syracuse delegates at the 2024 Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PRHYLI) were recently honored with leadership roles.

Sofia Beck, a senior, was selected to serve in a specialty role as the Assistant Clerk (Democrats) at the PRHYLI Institute Mock Assembly in Albany, which will be held on March 9th to 11th. Kairi Rodriguez, a junior, and Isabella Clark, a senior, will also be representing the Syracuse delegation at the Mock Assembly.

Isabella Clark was named “Senior Delegate of the Year.” She will have the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. in June 2024. “Senior Delegate of the Year” is an esteemed role and recognizes Isabella’ commitment to making a positive impact and dedication to civic engagement.

I am incredibly proud of these student leaders. These are both well-deserved honors for Isabella and Sofia! Congratulations!

Retirement:

Elden Elementary School Principal Thomas J. Coughlin recently announced his retirement. He will retire at the end of this school year. Principal Coughlin has served as Elden's principal since the 2016-1017 school year. We congratulate Principal Coughlin on his upcoming retirement and wish him well. He will be dearly missed!

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

Our Elden Elementary families were informed last night of the sudden death of third grade student Reese Fadden. The Baldwinsville Central School District is a close-knit school community and our hearts are broken by the loss of Reese.

Our District’s Crisis Response team was available today for students and staff, and will continue to be available next week and as needed in the future. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Reese’s family, friends and teammates. We have resources on our website to help your child cope with grief and sadness. If you feel that your child needs additional support, please contact their school.

One of the things I love and appreciate about Baldwinsville is that our community rallies together during difficult times and during joyous times. Thank you for continuing to support each other. We are stronger together!

Baldwinsville voters approved Phase 2 of our capital improvement project in May 2023 and Phase 1 was approved by voters in May 2022. The goal of the advisory committee was to explore plans for future phases and assess each of our eight school buildings. Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

Classmates and friends of Ava Wood are wearing pink and purple and the number 19 today to honor her memory as the anniversary of her passing nears. Our Boys Varsity Basketball team will be wearing their black jerseys this evening and they are encouraging spectators to wear Ava’s favorite colors in her honor. Our students have paid tribute to Ava in numerous ways over the past year and continue to keep her memory alive.

We recently received a statement from Ava’s family, which we would like to share with you:

Thank you for the continued outpouring of love for Ava. Over the last several months, it has been an incredible experience to witness the impact that Ava’s life has had on people here in Central New York and around the world. The memories you’ve shared on social media have made us smile and reminded us of how incredible Ava truly was. We want to encourage you to continue honoring Ava’s life in your words and actions. Smile - even when it’s difficult. Laugh - loud and often! Be kind and inclusive - everyone is going through something, and your kindness might change the course of their life for the better. Soak up every moment and remember that the most important gifts in life are family and friends.

Our counseling teams are prepared to provide students with the appropriate support this week and next, and far into the future. Please look for communications from the Durgee and Baker principals with resources for families. Our Wellness Committee has also posted information in its newsletter regarding grief. The newsletter is posted on our website. Please continue to reach out to your child’s school if they need support at any time. We are here to help.

I have a few other announcements to share with you today:

Lego League Competition:

Students from all five of our elementary schools and sixth graders at Ray Middle School will participate in the FIRST Lego League competition, a robotics challenge, on Saturday at McEvoy BOCES in Cortland.

Our teams of student engineers have designed, built and coded Lego robots to compete against students from several local elementary and middle schools. FIRST Lego League is an international, inquiry-based program that teaches students, ages 9-14, about science, technology and collaboration. The local challenge is in its third year and is organized by OCM BOCES.

Good luck to our student engineers! We are excited for you and proud of your hard work!

January 5, 2024

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

I hope everyone is settling back into your routines. January is a busy month as we prepare for the end of the second marking period, Regents exams, concerts, festivals, tournaments and more. Go Bees!

I have a few announcements to share with you this week:

Welcome New Board Members:

The Board of Education appointed Thomas Bull and Jeremy Cali to the vacant board seats at the special board meeting on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Thomas Bull is an educator with more than 30 years of experience at all levels. Jeremy Cali is a criminal, civil, and corporate lawyer who has been litigating cases for more than 17 years. Read more about them on our website.

Survey Feedback from Elementary Families:

On Thursday, Elementary school parents and guardians received a poll in ParentSquare regarding Fall 2024 Parent/Teacher Conference half days. Thank you to everyone who has completed the poll and provided feedback. If you haven’t had a chance to participate in the poll, it will be open until 4 p.m. on Monday. We greatly appreciate the feedback.

I understand half days can be difficult for families of elementary students. I wanted to take a moment to address some of the common responses that we received. Parents requested that we combine two half days for a full day off. The school district calendar must meet minimum days of attendance regulations set by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) and contractual obligations with our bargaining units. Currently, those guidelines require us to include five half days in our school year calendar. We use those half days for parent-teacher conferences - four in the fall and one in the spring. The half day parent-teacher conferences are permissible by the NYSED. That stated, we will not be able to eliminate half days for the 2024-2025 school year.

Your feedback is very important to us and I’ll be sharing the information we collected with this poll with the appropriate stakeholders as we make important school calendar and other decisions in the future.

Health Reminders:

With a spike in cases of COVID, Flu, RSV and other viruses, we wanted to send families some important health reminders:

  • If your child is symptomatic, do not send the child to school. If the child has or has had a fever in the last 24 hours the child must remain home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. Report all absences to the school attendance office.

  • There is no longer a universal masking mandate. Masks are not required in any of our schools, district buildings, or on school buses. If a student or staff member wears a mask, whether by choice, expectation, or requirement, they will be allowed to do so. It is expected that each individual’s right to mask or not is free from stigmatization, bullying, or being made to feel uncomfortable.

  • If your child tests positive for COVID-19 isolation is required for 5 days following the start of symptoms. Report all absences to the school attendance office. The child can return to school on day 6 if symptoms are improving and the child has been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. A mask should be worn on days 6-10.   CDC Isolation and Precautions for People with COVID-19

  • At-home test kits are available at any school building for your convenience.

January Calendar Reminders:

  • There is no school for students and district offices are closed on Monday, January 15th to observe the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.

  • The Marking Period ends on Friday, January 26th.

  • The next Community Cafe will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31st in the cafeteria at C.W. Baker High School. The topic is on “Funding Improvements and Building the Future.”

Great Season:

Congratulations to all of our Winter I modified athletes on a great season. The Winter II modified season starts on Monday! Please check Aktivate/Schedule Galaxy for practice and tryout information. Go Bees!

Sincerely,

December 8, 2023

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

I have a very important announcement to share with you today. On behalf of the District Food Service Program, I am pleased to announce that every enrolled student in the district will be eligible to receive a free breakfast and a free lunch meal every school day effective Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

The United States Department of Agriculture expanded access to the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) grant program, which allows eligible schools participation in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs to offer school meals at no charge to all students. The district previously did not qualify for the grant program.

When we return from our holiday break, every student enrolled in the district will receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day regardless of the family’s household income. Milk is free with a full meal. Please read more about this program on our website and see a list of frequently asked questions.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to send a reminder to use caution when driving in school zones and driving near all crosswalks. Earlier this week, a student riding a bike collided with a vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Thankfully, the student is recovering and anxious to return to school. Immediately after the accident occurred it was disheartening to see vehicles driving unsafely around the scene before first responders were able to help the student. It was a scary situation and I hope it can be a reminder to everyone to use extreme caution when driving near or on our school campuses. Here are a few reminders:

  • Make sure you always drive slowly and carefully near schools.

  • Speed limits in school zones are between 15 and 25 mph. Even if there is no reduced speed limit posted, please consider slowing down by 5-10 mph near all of our school campuses, especially near crosswalks.

  • Use caution when approaching crosswalks near schools especially during arrival and dismissal times.

  • Never tailgate in a school zone, especially behind a school bus.

  • Be aware of your surroundings and mindful that inexperienced student drivers may be in the area.

I have a few other announcements to share with you today:

  • New York State Senator Rachel May, of District 48, visited our district this afternoon. I had the pleasure of introducing her to members of the Board of Education and giving her a tour of C.W. Baker High School. Sen. May, of Syracuse, shows strong support for education and is committed to STEAM initiatives.

  • History was made on Tuesday night when our first-ever Varsity Girls Wrestling team held its first home match. The team features 11 wrestlers from 7th to 12th grade and is coached by Brett Cataldi. Their next match is away at Holland Patent on December 13th. Go Bees!

  • Ninth grader Jim Precourt advances to the Madden Championship in esports! He'll play on December 14th at 4 p.m. Way to go, Jim!

  • Athletics Update: FamilyID opens on Saturday, December 9th to register for Winter II modified sports, which includes Boys 7/8 Volleyball, Boys 7/8 Wrestling, Boys 7/8 Swimming, and Girls 7/8/9 Basketball.  Winter II modified sports registration closes on Tuesday, January 2nd, and practice/tryouts start on Monday January 8th.

Please continue to check ParentSquare, your email and our website, for important updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri
Superintendent of Schools

December 1, 2023

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

Happy first day of December. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun! Our winter athletics are underway, and our calendar is packed with holiday concerts, festive spirit weeks and fun winter activities!

We saw the return of snow this week and I wanted to remind parents of the important information that was sent out earlier this week about receiving notifications regarding emergency closings and cancellations. Check out our website for details.

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

  • Our next Community Café will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6th at C.W. Baker High School in the cafeteria. The topic discussed will be Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The district is hosting the Community Café this year to bring together students, staff, parents and community members to discuss important topics impacting the school district. Guests will gather in small groups as we share ideas, perspectives and light refreshments. Registration is required. We hope you can join us as we explore questions that matter, build relationships and share our knowledge and ideas to help build, educate and empower our students! Visit our website for more information.

  • Our seventh grade band from Ray Middle School will perform at the NYSSMA All-State Conference in Rochester on Saturday under the direction of Tim Moshier. They are the only middle school band from all of New York State to be invited to perform. The band worked with world-renowned composer Sean O'Loughlin. O'Loughlin flew in from Los Angeles to work with the student musicians on a piece commissioned to premiere on Saturday.  We also have three C.W. Baker High School performing at the conference. Congratulations to Ethan Haahr, Lundy Langstaff and Chase McElyea. Go Bees!

  • On the day before Thanksgiving break, we held our Paige’s Pajamarama to raise money for Paige’s Butterfly Run. The organization supports efforts in Central New York to fight cancer and blood disorders in children. Paige Yeomans Arnold was a Palmer Elementary School student when she was diagnosed with leukemia. She died in 1994. Learn more about her story and the organization on our website. During our district-wide pajamarama, we raised $7,196. Great job, Bees! We joined our neighboring school districts on Wednesday to present checks to Paige’s Butterfly Run. Nearly $41,000 was raised to help children and families battling cancer at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

  • C.W. Baker High School students Kairi Rodriguez, Sofia Beck, KeiraAnn Remington and Isabella Clark were selected as delegates of the 2024 Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PRHYLI) - Syracuse Delegation. This program encourages the participation of Hispanic students in public policy issues by learning about the legislative process. Delegates show great leadership potential. This institute will be held in March in Albany.

  • Thank you to everyone who participated and voted in our 2023 Holiday Greeting Card Contest. Congratulations to Dorothy Nimeh, a fifth grader at McNamara Elementary School, for winning the contest. You check out the top ten finalists on our website. Great job, Bees!

Please continue to check ParentSquare, your email and our website, for important updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

October 27, 2023

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

As we near the end of our second month of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank our students for their hard work and determination in and out of the classroom. Our students are making strides in their coursework, mastering new skills and working hard as the end of the first marking period nears. Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

There is a lot of work that goes into getting our schools, facilities and campuses ready for the start of a new school year. The work is extremely important and appreciated, but all too often does not receive the attention it deserves. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Facilities Department for their hard work, dedication and extraordinary attention to detail. Our buildings, campuses and fields looked great for the start of the school year and throughout this month. Monday is School Custodian Appreciation Day and we want to say thank you to all of our custodians and members of our Facilities Department. Thank you for all that you do!

The first Café will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 19th and will explore the topics of health, safety and security. Registration is required. We hope you can join us as we explore questions that matter, build relationships and share our knowledge and ideas to help build, educate and empower our students! Learn more on our website.

  • Congratulations to our Baker’s Dozen, which was announced this morning by Principal Kris Denton. The Baker's Dozen represents the 13 students that have the highest weighted GPA in the Class of 2024. See the list of names on our website. Congratulations, Bees! We are so proud of you for your accomplishments!

September 22, 2023

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

Happy Friday! I want to take this opportunity to remind parents and guardians that there is no school for students on Monday, September 25th. I hope you have a great 3-day weekend!

Our campus will be buzzing with activity this weekend for a home football game vs. Cicero-North Syracuse, the 71st Annual Baldwinsville XC Invitational, the Marching Band Home Show and so much more. I wanted to take this opportunity to remind families to obey the speed limit on campus and take note of our updated safety protocols.

Beginning this Friday, new safety and security measures will be implemented at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium. Metal detector wands will be used at the stadium entrances. No backpacks are allowed in the stadium and all other bags (purses, diaper bags, etc.) are subject to search. We would also like to remind families that middle school and elementary school students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and seated with them during the game. We will also have an increased law enforcement detail and staff presence at all events.

Safety and security are extremely important to our district and we have continued to be proactive with our safety protocols, infrastructure improvements and school resource officers/special patrol officers staffing. Soon our high school will feature weapons detection systems at each of its entrances. These systems are portable and once they arrive, they will also be used at the stadium to increase security during community events. Check out our website for more information on our safety priorities.

Safety and security will be the main topic of discussion at our inaugural Community Café gathering on Thursday, October 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the C.W. Baker High School. District families, community members and staff are encouraged to attend the event where attendees will explore important questions and issues facing our district through small-group discussions. We’ll have more information on the Community Café next week. Save the date and stay tuned!

I have a few acknowledgements to share with you today:

  • Congratulations to C.W. Baker High School seniors Kelsey Dwyer, Emma Huhtala, Andrew Jung and Ryan Wilson who have all been named commended students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship program. A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, was presented to these scholastically talented seniors. Commended students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2024 competition by taking the 2022 preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship qualifying test.

  • Congratulations to Eva Smith, a senior girls swimmer, for having a record-breaking week! She broke the record in the 50 free and set a new pool record of 25.08. She also broke the record in the 100 backstroke and set a new pool record of 58.47. She broke her own record in the 100 backstroke and qualified for States with her time! Congrats, Eva!

  • Good luck to all student-athletes with games this weekend. You can check out our athletic schedule on our website and follow our Athletics Department on Twitter. The Marching Band Home Show starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday. We are hosting six schools for the competition.

Please continue to check ParentSquare, your email and our website, for important updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Have a great 3-day weekend. Go Bees!

Sincerely,

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

The first full week of the 2023-24 school year is officially in the books. I’ve had the pleasure of spending time in our classrooms this week and I have found that our students are settling into their routines, making new friends and having a lot of fun.

Our staff is enthusiastic and I’m excited for parents and guardians to hear what’s in store for their children this school year. I strongly encourage you to attend your child’s school’s curriculum night. The dates are listed below.

Principals sent out information about their building’s offerings on ParentSquare, but you can also learn more and register on our website.

  • Please contact your child's school with any requests to update your contact information. We use the contact information on file in SchoolTool to deliver important updates and emergency closure information through ParentSquare, so it is important to make sure your school has your contact information correct in SchoolTool.

  • Ray Middle School held its Curriculum Night for 6th Graders on Wednesday and Durgee Junior High School held its Curriculum Night on Thursday night. Both nights were fantastic and we were excited that parents and guardians had a chance to spend some time in our buildings with our staff. Here’s the remaining schedule of Curriculum Nights:

  • Our Bees are in action and if you can’t make it to the game you can watch a live stream of home contests on hudlTV. Games at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium and in Baker High School Main Gymnasium will be streamed for free. Our football team has its home opener tonight vs. Elmira and those in the attendance will be the first to see a special welcome video created by Baker High School students. Thank you to the student athletes featured in the video and to Zoe Howroyd, senior film student, for editing this important video. Watch the video here! Good luck to all student-athletes with games this weekend. You can check out our athletic schedule on our website and follow our Athletics Department on Twitter.

  • Good luck to our Marching Bees as they compete on Saturday, September 16th at the Mohonasen field band competition.

  • Calendar reminder: There is no school for students on Monday, September 25th.

Please continue to check ParentSquare, your email and our website, for important updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

September 8, 2023

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

During the first week of school, our goal is to get students reacquainted with being in the classroom and ready to learn and grow. I visited all of our school buildings this week and watched as teachers and support staff members explained classroom procedures, rules and expectations to their students. Laying down this groundwork helps prepare students for a successful school year.

From UPK students entering a classroom for the first time to our Class of 2024 celebrating their last first day of school in our Hive, this week has been filled with countless smiles, happy tears and memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you to all of our district staff members, including bus drivers, custodians, and food services workers for making connections with our students!

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

  • Don't forget! The district is seeking feedback related to one of the priorities of our new strategic plan, focusing on project based learning. There's still time to provide your feedback and rate thoughts using this link. The Thought Exchange will close Sunday, September 10th at 8:00 p.m. Thank you to all who have participated!
  • Health reminders: If your child is symptomatic, do not send the child to school. If the child has or has had a fever in the last 24 hours the child must remain home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. COVID-19 testing for symptomatic individuals is recommended, but not required for return to school/work. Report all absences to the school attendance office. There is no longer a universal masking mandate.
  • Important Reminder: If you DO NOT WANT your child’s image to be taken and used by the district or local media during the current school year, please fill out this opt-out form and return to Public Information Specialist Sarah Buckshot, Baldwinsville Central School District Office, 29 East Oneida Street, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 or sbuckshot@bville.org. Please be sure to include each child’s name and the school that he/she attends. THIS REQUEST MUST BE MADE EVERY YEAR. Download the form on our website. The form is also found in the August Hive. This is now the ONLY way to have your child placed on the no image list.
  • September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Read the newsletter from our support staff on our website and make sure to check out our weekly messages, which will be posted on our social media sites each Friday.
  • Our Bees are in action. Good luck to all student-athletes with games this weekend. You can check out our athletic schedule on our website and follow our Athletics Department on Twitter.
  • Good luck to our Marching Bees as they compete on Saturday, September 9th at the Jordan Elbridge field band competition.

Please continue to check ParentSquare, your email and our website, www.bville.org, for important updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Have a great weekend. Go Bees!

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

Two weeks from today is the start of the 2023-2024 school year! We are excited to welcome our new and returning students and families. We hope you have a successful year and we are here to support you as you work toward your goals!

I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you a few important updates:
  • The 2023-2024 bus information, class lists, schedules, and teacher assignments for students will be available in the Parent Portal this Friday – August 25th. For help using Parent Portal, visit our User Guide.
  • You should receive the Hive in the mail later this week. Please take the time to review it because it contains several important forms for the 2023-2024 school year. You should have received the District Calendar earlier this week. Prior to 2020, important forms were delivered with the calendar. Now all forms are included in the Hive, including the No Image Request Form and Free and Reduced Price School Meals Application. Both forms need to be filled out every year. The Hive is also available online on our website.
  • Our district has switched to a new communication platform called ParentSquare to communicate with families. With ParentSquare, a unified app for school communication, parents and guardians can now receive all announcements from the district, their children’s schools and teachers in one place, with options to specify how and when they are notified. On August 7th and August 21st, the district sent out an email invitation for parents and guardians to activate their ParentSquare account. Learn more about ParentSquare on our website.
  • The Back to School Quick Reference Guide is posted on our website. Please review it and let us know if you have any questions. You can email questions about the guide, Hive or District Calendar to sbuckshot@bville.org.
  • School Nursing Supervisor Katie Cazzolli has some COVID-19 and health reminders to share with parents/guardians:
    • If your child is symptomatic, do not send the child to school. If the child has or has had a fever in the last 24 hours the child must remain home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. COVID-19 testing for symptomatic individuals is recommended, but not required for return to school/work. Report all absences to the school attendance office.
With the start of the school year fastly approaching our Bees are already in action. Make sure you check out the following:
  • Jude Langstaff, an incoming 8th grade student at Durgee Junior High School  will be playing in the Little League Challenger game as part of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. The game will be televised locally on WCNY and nationally on ESPN at 10:30 a.m. on August 26th.

  • Our Marching Bees will also be in action on Saturday, September 2nd. They will perform at SUNY Cortland as the Red Dragons football team takes on the Delaware Valley Aggies at noon. The Marching Band performs during the pregame show.
We are looking forward to the first day of school on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Please continue to check your email and our website, www.bville.org, for updates. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Enjoy the rest of the summer break. See you in two weeks!

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

The start of the school year is less than a month away and I wanted to check in with you. I hope you’re enjoying your summer!

Our staff has been busy working this summer to prepare for students to return and we’re looking forward to the first day of school on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

Please be on the lookout for important updates via email from your child’s school and from myself as we prepare for opening day. On Monday, families received an email notification to join ParentSquare, the district's new communication platform. Please follow the directions in the email to activate your account as this will be how families receive district messages beginning with the new school year.

We will be sending out more emails and posting important information on our website, www.bville.org, over the coming weeks.

The 2023-2024 bus information, class lists, schedules, and teacher assignments for students will be available in the Parent Portal on Friday, August 25th. For help using Parent Portal, visit our User Guide.

Our transportation staff asks for your assistance submitting various transportation forms which must be updated annually as soon as possible. These forms include the daycare and authorization to release forms. Please keep in mind that there will be no updates to transportation routes during the first week of school between September 6th through September 8th to ensure the safety of our students.

Later this month you will also be receiving the district calendar and the Hive newsletter in the mail. Please take the time to review the Hive because it contains several important forms for the 2023-2024 school year.

I hope you enjoy the rest of summer with your friends and family. Have fun and go Bees!

Sincerely,

Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri

July 1, 2023

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as your Superintendent of Schools. Today marks my first day of my tenure and I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to our families and staff. I appreciate the support from our school community for my appointment as superintendent and for the support of our teachers and staff.

I look forward to working with our dedicated staff members and administrative team as we prepare for the 2023-2024 school year. We will continue to focus on students’ successes and achievements.

I also would like to take this opportunity to share my gratitude for the guidance and leadership we received from Dr. Kathleen Davis as she served as Acting Superintendent. Dr. Davis played a vital role in helping to move our district forward during our transitional time.

I will discontinue the weekly emails during summer break, but I will keep you posted as updates become available regarding the upcoming school year. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Enjoy the rest of summer! See you in September!

Sincerely,
