Baker High School senior wins EdgeTank competition

C.W. Baker High School senior Kristof Pawelek took first place in the EdgeTank competition presented by Edge Federal Credit Union.

EdgeTank uses the concept from the popular TV show, Shark Tank, where budding entrepreneurs pitch ideas for a chance to win money to make their dream a reality.

During EdgeTank, Kristof presented an idea for a suitcase that has a vacuum component that will shrink clothes to make more space for travel items. He won $500 in prize money for his start-up.

Kristof was one of 10 students who pitched their ideas to a panel of judges Wednesday afternoon. The applicants represented the Baldwinsville, Liverpool and Phoenix school districts.

Kerri Lewis and Bradford Doubleday, Baker seniors, tied for second place in the competition.

Bradford’s idea was a fire resistant house cover to protect from wildfires and any other types of fires. Kerri pitched an idea of a decor store where you can rent decorations out for various holidays.

They both won $100.
