NYS Accountability
January 2024The New York State Education Department accountability system designation for the 2023-24 school year based on student assessment data from the 2022-23 school year has been released. Our district is pleased to announce that all schools in the district are now designated by the New York State Education Department for Local Support and Improvement (LSI). Under the accountability system, Local Support and Improvement (LSI) replaces what was formerly known as "Good Standing," in an effort to focus on continuous improvement by weaving tools and resources of value into our current practices.

The New York State Education Department has "restarted" the accountability system for the 2022-23 school year based on student assessment data from the 2021-22 school year. Our district is pleased to announce that under this restart, the schools and subgroups previously identified based on 2018-19 assessment data have met exit criteria. All schools in the district are now designated by the New York State Education Department for Local Support and Improvement. Under the accountability "restart," Local Support and Improvement replaces what was formerly known as "Good Standing," in an effort to focus on continuous improvement by weaving tools and resources of value into our current practices.
August 2022
Our district is entering its third year identified as a Target District under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Below you will find the district's comprehensive improvement plan (DCIP) for the 2022-23 school year. During the spring and summer of 2022, district teams as well as teams from Elden Elementary School and Durgee Junior High School worked to implement action steps toward achieving the commitments identified in the 2021-22 plans and develop the new/continued plans for 2022-23. The teams from these schools also worked to develop School Comprehensive Education Plans, which will be implemented during the 2022-23 school year. Our district awaits further guidance from the New York State Education Department regarding a "restart" of their accountability system and the potential of continuing to be identified as a district in need of support based on data from the 2021-22 school year.

As part of our district's second year identified as a Target District, below you will find the district's comprehensive improvement plan for the 2021-22 school year. During the spring and summer of 2021, district teams as well as teams from Elden Elementary School and Durgee Junior High School worked to develop the plan. The teams from these schools also worked to develop School Comprehensive Education Plans. These plans will be implemented throughout the 2021-22 school year.

Thank you to all school staff, parents, and community members participating in the district's recent surveys. The feedback received has been a critical component of developing a comprehensive improvement plan to be implemented during the 2020-21 school year. This plan is posted below. Throughout the fall of 2020, teams from Elden Elementary School and Durgee Junior High School will continue their work in developing school improvement plans. Implementation of the school improvement plans will begin in January of 2021.

Dear Baldwinsville Community:
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has recently released accountability designations as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). To foster equity, goals of the New York State ESSA plan include components which make schools equally welcoming environments for all students, increase fiscal transparency in school building spending, and use multiple measures to allow students to demonstrate proficiency in state learning standards.
Based on student performance and each of our school’s participation rates for the Grades 3-8 English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science testing during the 2018-19 school year, our district has been designated as a target district. This is based on two of our schools, Elden Elementary School and Durgee Junior High School, being identified as schools in need of Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI).
Due to this designation, in the coming months our district will conduct a series of surveys to gather feedback from school staff, parents, and community members related to what is working well and what is not in order for us to develop an improvement plan. Additionally, teams at Elden Elementary School and Durgee Junior High School will be working to develop school improvement plans which will be submitted to our district level team for approval prior to implementation. These plans will be implemented during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years and progress will be regularly measured.
