COVID-19 Update from Acting Superintendent: District Feeding Plan announced

March 16, 2020

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Due to the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Onondaga County, the Baldwinsville Central School District will be closed starting today at 4 p.m.

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon made the announcement this morning that all schools in the county will close at 4 p.m. Students will continue their regular routines and will be dismissed at normal times this afternoon.

We will be updating our families with more information, but we wanted to let parents and guardians know about the closure as soon as possible.

Here are some quick announcements:
  1. Teachers are reaching out to families to communicate plans for continuing education while we are closed.
  2. The County Executive announced that we will be closed until Tuesday, April 14.
  3. The Board of Education meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight will be closed to the public. The Board of Education Spotlight is postponed. The meeting will be live-streamed on our website.  The video, audio, or transcript will be posted on the district website.
Our District’s Leadership Team has been working around the clock to make plans to support our children and their families who depend on our school meal programs for the nutrition they need.

Here is our District Feeding Plan:
  • Meals will be provided for students who receive free/reduced breakfast and lunch.
  • We plan to be open three days each week. This week we will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The following weeks we’ll be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  • Hours of operation will be between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Families may pick up two days’ worth of meals for each Free/Reduced student, including both breakfast and lunch.
  • We will require the parent to provide ID to verify that their student is on our eligibility list.
  • There will be two pick-up locations:
Ray Middle School
7650 Van Buren Rd
Baldwinsville, NY 13027

C.W. Baker High School
29 E. Oneida St,
Baldwinsville, NY 13027
  • There will be no on premise consumption of food as these are grab-and-go sites only.
  • Delivery of meals will be handled on an as-needed basis. For delivery information, call 315-638-6097.
We are committed to providing additional updates on a regular basis as circumstances warrant. Please check your email and our website, www.bville.org, for updates, links, guidance and more.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,
Joseph M. DeBarbieri
Acting Superintendent of Schools
