Welcome Message from Superintendent Thomson

Jason D. Thomson

September 7, 2021

Dear Baldwinsville families,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the start of the 2021-2022 school year and officially introduce myself to the Baldwinsville community. I consider it a true honor and privilege to be selected as your new Superintendent of Schools. Thank you to the Board of Education for their confidence in me, and thank you to our administrators and staff for welcoming me into the Bee family.  Everyone I have met thus far has been very helpful, respectful, kind and caring.

During my first 3 weeks at Baldwinsville, I’ve discovered how passionate our community is about our school district and that makes me very excited to be here. I’m looking forward to working with our community, students, teachers and staff.

As an educator for 20 years, I’ve spent the majority of my career working in Delaware County, N.Y. I taught special education as well as health education.  I served as a summer school principal for Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego (DCMO) BOCES, the Dean of Students and Vice Principal at Walton Central School. I was superintendent of Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi from 2011 to 2020. Prior to that I worked for the Franklin Central School District for five years. I worked as the pre-kindergarten through grade 12 Building Principal, Director of Special Education and Preschool Education, and the Director of Curriculum. Most recently, I served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Ichabod Crane Central School District in Valatie, N.Y.

During my career in education, my focus has always been to advocate for students, first and foremost. Academic excellence and opportunities for ALL students is a passion of mine. I will continue with my student-first approach here at Baldwinsville. My number one priority will always be to do what is best for students by working together as a unified team.

I grew up in the “foot of the Catskills,” in Walton, N.Y., and attended Springfield College in Massachusetts to study athletic training/sports medicine as well as health education. I earned my Masters of Health Education from SUNY Cortland and have completed my coursework for my Doctorate of Education from Binghamton University. I am the father of three amazing children Annika (11), Bronson (15), and Cameron (15) and I am the husband to a loving and supportive wife, Heather.

Athletics is also a passion of mine. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as an athletic trainer for the National Soccer Hall of Fame and the Boston Red Sox Baseball Organization. I also served as Yoko Ono Lennon’s personal trainer. I’m passionate about health, fitness and wellness. I also love coaching. I’ve coached baseball, softball, football and basketball over the years.

As your Superintendent of Schools, my goal is to be accessible to all members of our community. I truly have an open door policy. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at any time!  I encourage and welcome your questions, comments or concerns about our schools. I can be reached directly at jthomson@bville.org or 315-638-6043.

I’m looking forward to a successful year ahead. See you tomorrow! All the best!

WE ARE BEE STRONG TOGETHER!

Sincerely,

Jason D. Thomson, Superintendent of Schools
