Superintendent DeBarbieri's announcements for November 3, 2023

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

I started off this week cheering on our Marching Bees at the state championships on Sunday evening and I’ll end the week by cheering on our Girls Varsity Volleyball team at the Sectional finals this evening and the Boys Soccer team in the Regional game on Saturday. Win or lose, I’m very proud of all our teams for a successful fall season of athletics and field band. We’ve listed more postseason highlights below. Go Bees! 

I have a few other announcements to share with you today: 

  • Mark your calendars: The District will be having its annual "Go Home Early" Drill on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.  All schools will be dismissed 15 minutes early to conduct the mandatory safety drill.  

  • Calendar reminders: 

    • Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 5th. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour. 

    • There’s no school for students on Tuesday, November 7th for a Superintendent’s Conference Day.

    • The marking period ends on Thursday, November 9th.

    • There is no school for students and district offices are closed on Friday, November 10th for Veterans Day. 

  • Postseason Athletics:

    • Congratulations to our Girls Swimmers who competed in sectionals on Wednesday. Senior swimmer Eva Smith won the sectional championship in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, and her time in both events qualified her for states. Eva was also named the Section III Class A Outstanding Swimmer at sectionals on Wednesday. Freshman swimmer Olivia McManus won the sectional championship in the 100 Butterfly. Eight swimmers are competing this afternoon at the state qualifier meet. Go Bees! The state championships begin on Friday, November 17th at the Webster Aquatic Center.

    • Congratulations to our Boys Soccer Team who won the Section III Class AAA Sectional Championship last Saturday. The Bees will take on Shaker in the state Regional game at noon on Saturday at Fayetteville-Manlius. Digital ticketing only for this event.

    • Our Football team plays in the Sectional Semifinals vs. Cicero-North Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. 

    • Girls Volleyball will play in the Sectional Finals vs. Liverpool at 8 p.m. tonight at Jamesville-DeWitt High School. Digital ticketing only for this event.

    • The Boys and Girls Cross Country Sectionals are this Saturday, November 4th at VVS High School.

    • You can check out our athletic schedule on our website and follow our Athletics Department on Twitter. Great job to all our athletes who competed in postseason action. We are so proud of you. Congratulations on a great season! 

  • Tickets available: Tickets for the Baldwinsville Theater Arts Program's junior musical "Finding Nemo Jr." are now available!  All tickets are free but are reserved seating. Reserve your tickets today! Visit www.bvilletheater.com for tickets!

  • Live Streaming on YouTube: There are several band, orchestra and chorus concerts coming up and many of them will be live streamed on our Baldwinsville Music and Theater Department’s YouTube channel. If you have a YouTube account, you can set notifications for upcoming concerts. 

  • Welcome Back Christy Pavetto: The Board of Education appointed Christy Pavetto to the vacant board seat at the board meeting on Monday, October 30, 2023. Christy previously served on our school board for six years and held the positions of vice-president and president. Learn more on our website. 

  • Nominations Open: The Baldwinsville Community Athletic Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations. The Hall of Fame recognizes athletes, coaches and contributors who have made significant contributions to the Baldwinsville athletic program through their service, performance, dedication, commitment and accomplishments. Learn more and fill out our nomination form on our website.

  • 2023 Holiday Greeting Card Contest: The District Office for the Baldwinsville Central School District is seeking a design for our 2023 digital holiday greeting card and we need your help. We are calling all BCSD elementary school students to submit the cover art for our 2023 holiday card. Learn more on our website.
