Question and Answers

Is the Board of Education conducting a search for the next superintendent?
Yes, the Baldwinsville Board of Education has contracted with McPherson and Jacobson, a nationwide superintendent search consultant firm to facilitate our search for our next leader.

Are there opportunities for the public to participate?
Yes! The consultants will be facilitating three community meetings from May 5-13 via Zoom to directly collect information from the public, along with meetings with students, teachers, support staff, and administrators. A total of 13 meetings will be held to gather input from stakeholders of the district.

In addition, people who cannot attend these meetings will have an opportunity to complete a survey online from May 5-13. The survey will be available in English, Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian. The questions that will be asked at those forums and in the online survey are directly related to the qualities the Baldwinsville community values in our next superintendent.

How will the information be used in the process?
Following stakeholder input from the community survey and focus group meetings, the collected data will be shared on the district website for prospective candidates and the community to see. This information is vital in the selection of the next candidate. The consultants and the Board of Education will use the collected information to inform their interviewing and selection of the successful candidate.

How will the search be conducted?
The search will be conducted as a confidential search. This process is followed in order to attract sitting superintendents and other education professionals who may prefer that their candidacy not immediately be made public. This process has become a popular choice for districts our size. This type of search will provide a larger pool and attract the most qualified candidates.

What is a confidential search?
A confidential search means that all applicants for the position of Superintendent of Schools will apply directly to the consultants. The consultants and the Board of Education will work together to identify candidates by utilizing the input provided by all of the stakeholders (teachers, administrators, support staff, high school students, and community) and interview candidates who meet the qualifications and criteria for the position before a final candidate's name is public.

What is the timeline for the search?
Applications are due at midnight on Monday, June 21, 2021.
The week of July 12-16 -- the Board will select semi-finalist candidates to be interviewed.
The week of July 26-28 -- the Board will interview final candidates for the Superintendent position.
Monday, August 2nd: The Board appoints a new superintendent.
TBD -- the new Superintendent starts on Wednesday, September 1, or as close to that date as possible.

What is the application process?
People interested in applying for the position should follow the application procedures which can be found at http://macnjake.com/.
